KNP 2015 — 5-20 June
I had enjoyed the previous year so much that I decided to stay two weeks in the the park with an exploration of the bushveld camps. I followed the same routine with a Cape Town visit first and I and flew into Nelspruit thereafter. The rented Nissan X-Trail was great and it had a good elevation.
I spent a total of 15 nights in Kruger (camp sequence: Orpen 1; Shingwedzi 2; Satara 2; Olifants 3; Letaba 1; Shimuwini Bushveld Camp 1; Letaba 1; Skukuza 3; Biyamiti Bushveld Camp 1), which I thoroughly enjoyed and I tried to cover as much ground as I could as it had been such a long time since I’d been there.
Most memorable from this visit were the leopard viewings and a leopard kill I witnessed at the Olifants river bridge. It was fascinating seeing how the leopard remained around the area where it had pulled up the impala carcass into a tree. Relaxing on its back in a shade of a tree with its legs wide spread. An early morning viewing of a hunting cheetah was exhilarating. Furthermore I was very fortunate to capture some excellent photographs of vultures and an eagle coming in to land. The bateleur eagle photograph has subsequently become my website emblem.
